If you are one of the frequent travelers to South, you must have known about the intolerable traffic near Nilai and Seremban exits when using PLUS highway. This is quite common view during weekends when most of people from Kuala Lumpur or any other places decide to take PLUS to go balik kampung or visit Malacca or Johor Bahru. It’s frustrating when you have to pay high toll but have to tolerate the jam in return.
I have experienced it in too many occasions and it had really spoiled my mood. The journey to my wife’s hometown in Muar shouldn’t take more than 2 and half hours (driving according to the speed limit). However sometimes it may take up to more than 3 hours. It may take longer time if you are going during season holiday like Chinese New Year and the traffic get worst when accident happens. Once it took me almost 7 hours just to reach Muar when a trailer overturned and block the road. Can you imagine?
Now, with the completion of LEKAS (Lebuhraya Kajang – Seremban) highway, the trip to Seremban only take about 30 minutes. You don’t have to worry about the jam at Seremban exit as it is bypassing it through Semenyih. To get to the LEKAS highway you can use one of these roads:
1. From Jalan Loke Yew /Taman Midah
It is a straight way from Jalan Loke Yew to Taman Midah heading towards Semenyih. If you pass in front of Kajang Tesco, you are on the right path. Continue straight and you will see Giant on your left, further up is Kajang Prison. About 3 km from there, you will see a signboard to LEKAS highway.
2. From PLUS Highway, Kajang Exit
After the exit, take left and head towards Sungai Ramal. You head straight to the SILK Highway where you have to pay RM1 toll 2 times. The last toll plaza is calle Bukit Kajang. Go straight heading to Semenyih and follow the signboard to LEKAS
3. From Bangi
Just follow the signboard to Semenyih using normal road or SILK Highway. You will find your way to LEKAS.
You can exit to Seremban at Temiang or Ampangan and later on, when completed, Kuala Pilah. Currently the toll fee is RM4.90 and for Setul is free of charge. I like to use LEKAS because it is just 4 km away from my house. There is not many cars passing through mainly due to the fact that it is new and not many people are away of its existence.
All I can say is your trip would be worthwhile with beautiful hill scenery and excellent driving condition. So the next time you are planning to go down South, why don’t you try LEKAS Highway?
